From Z(x) to Asymptotic Safety — A Research Log

(Kaluza-Klein, QCD, DSI, Berry-Keating, Least Action):

Kaluza-Klein< 0.35
QCD Cornell
Berry-Keating0.0000لا تشبه

Case 1 (factorizable): |S| = 0.136
Case 2 (non-factorizable): |S| = 1.770 (flat)
Case 3 (Born rule): |S| = 2.828 = 2√2

5.1 Navier-Stokes

5.3 Asymptotic Safety (Weinberg 1979)

β_g = 2g − B·g²
g* = 2/B
θ = −β'(g*) = 2 > 0  →  UV-attractive

Purpose: This is not a paper, and not a theory claim. It is an honest log of a research journey — from an initial idea to a critical understanding of theoretical physics methodology.

1. First Attempt: Z(x)

I started from a mathematical function:

Z(x) = x⁵ · ln(x) · sin(2π/x) · e^(−x/xp)

And claimed it might be the "mother equation" of the universe, with physical constants derived from it (H₀, α, w, ...).

What I did right:

Where I went wrong:

  • No derivation: Z(x) did not emerge from any physical principle.
  • Too many free parameters: xp, N, the form — all my choices.
  • Overfitting: With four parameters, any numbers can be fitted.
  • No prediction: Z(x) predicted nothing before measurement.

2. The Decisive Test

I tested Z(x) against 5 independent physical principles (Kaluza-Klein, QCD, DSI, Berry-Keating, Least Action):

PrincipleOverlap with Z(x)Result
Kaluza-Klein< 0.35No match
QCD CornellNo matchNo match
DSI (α=0.5)0.037No match
DSI (α=5)0.0006No match
Berry-Keating0.0000No match
Result: Z(x) is an arbitrary mathematical function, not a solution to any known physical equation.

3. Bell's Theorem: A Second Constraint

I attempted to save the idea by making Z non-factorizable:

Z(x₁,x₂) = f(x₁,x₂) · e^(iΦ(x₁,x₂))

But the numerical result:

Case 1 (factorizable): |S| = 0.136
Case 2 (non-factorizable): |S| = 1.770 (flat)
Case 3 (Born rule): |S| = 2.828 = 2√2
Mathematical finding: Any correlation of the form E(a,b) = ∫∫ p(x₁,x₂) m_a(x₁) m_b(x₂) dx₁dx₂ satisfies |S| ≤ 2 — even if p is non-factorizable. This is known in the literature as Fine's Theorem (1972).

4. What I Learned (The Real Lesson)

"Physics begins from a principle, and ends in a result. Arbitrary construction begins from a result, and searches for a principle."

5. The New Direction

After closing the Z(x) file, I began a new scientific journey, built on real principles:

5.1 Navier-Stokes

5.2 Donoghue (1994): Quantum Correction to Newton's Law

V(r) = −GM/r · [1 + (41/10π) · (l_P/r)² + ...]

At l_P = 1.616×10⁻³⁵ m, the correction is negligible at all practical scales, but it is a genuine quantum prediction of the effective gravity theory.

5.3 Asymptotic Safety (Weinberg 1979)

Simplified beta function:

β_g = 2g − B·g²
g* = 2/B
θ = −β'(g*) = 2 > 0  →  UV-attractive

All trajectories converge to g* in the UV instead of diverging at E ~ M_P. This opens the possibility that gravity is non-perturbatively renormalizable.

6. The New Principle

  1. Principle first: Start from a physical principle, not a function.
  2. Derive: Extract the result mathematically.
  3. Test: Compare with experiment or a known bound.
  4. Self-criticize: If it fails, that is science.
